What is Meridian Massage? Through traditional Chinese medicine, meridian massage is designed to treat injuries in the body and help maintain general wellness. A frequent meridian massage regimen would help you maintain a constant level of relaxation and wellness throughout your daily routine. By continuing your body’s natural balance, living a healthier lifestyle becomes much more manageable. A meridian massage involves several different massage techniques applied to different acupressure points along the meridian lines. The various massage techniques employed in this massage include kneading, tapping, pushing, and stretching of soft and deep tissue. A massage therapist makes use of a combination of the techniques in regular western massage therapy and within typical acupressure massages. What is a Meridian? Meridians are like rivers; they carry the flow of energy (Qi) just like a river carries the flow of water through a particular path to various destinations. These meridian pathways function in just about the same way as the circulatory system by circulating energy, nutrients, and blood throughout the body. There are 12 meridians, and these meridian lines are all connected to major organs within the body.
Reiki: What is Reiki? Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. {Reiki is a specific form of energy healing, in which hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body.}
